Overview
Subbaiah Institute of Dental Science has been offering expert treatment for many years to the people in Shivamogga. College is situated in the campus attached to medical hospital which is in the rural region, providing advanced clinical treatment, diagnostics and personalized attention to all patients with care and compassion. Institution facilitates higher education to the doctors and nurtures students in making them competent professionals. This specialty deals with diagnosis and management of diseases of oral mucosa, medical management of oral manifestations of systemic diseases, management of behavioural disorders, oral and dental treatment of medically compromised patients.With these core duties in mind, Department of oral medicine and radiology supports the training of dental graduates and postgraduates who own the knowledge, abilities, skills and maturity required to perform all tasks related to general dentistry practice, including the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of all oral and maxillofacial pathologies. Comprehensive instruction on the methods, interpretation of intraoral and extraoral radiographs, and radiographic diagnosis of dentomaxillofacial pathologies is given in oral and dentomaxillofacial radiology. The department, which is divided into two divisions, has enough room for oral diagnosis and radiography. In the oral medicine clinic, all patients who visit the hospital and dentistry college are examined. Disease diagnosis is accomplished by clinical findings, laboratory research and scientific methodologies. A variety of medicinal therapies are used to treat every instance involving oromucosal lesions. comprehensive dental care is carried out in different specializaties of the institution. There are distinct sections for undergraduates and postgraduates, with 13 and 6 dental chairs that are specifically outfitted, respectively. Department of oral medicine is furnished with Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation, Ultrasound massager, intra oral camera and pulp vitality tester and all the chair side investigation. The department of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology is furnished with 3 intraoral x-ray machines, 1 portable intraoral x-ray machine, general extraoral radiographic machine, and Automatic processing units. Additionally, it has advanced imaging modalities, including Allengers digital OPG machine and Carestream CS9600 CBCT radiography machine. A dark room equipped with all the necessary equipment for processing radiographic films is attached to the radiology department. Students are encouraged to actively involve in scientific presentations and present case studies and seminars on a range of oral medicine and radiology issues in a well-equipped seminar hall.
Mission: The goal is to offer both basic and advanced education in oral medicine and dentomaxillofacial radiology to enhance knowledge of all dental and maxillofacial diseases. This will enable competent diagnosis, examination, and treatment of lesions of the oral mucosa, chronic pain states in the orofacial region, temporomandibular disorders, dentomaxillofacial pathologies, and oral manifestations of systemic diseases. To train the students, the department is led by committed, astute clinicians who possess a high level of education and knowledge.
